An area of 63 meters was divided into two full-fledged apartments with full equipment and wardrobe. Of the two apartments, one is for the client and the other is for rent.
For the client’s apartment, the client’s budget constraints required creative and unusual solutions. For example, the kitchen, the washbasin, and the storage for things are in a single casing. Two sinks are combined into one and the countertop can overlap one of them, depending on the situation: if there are guests in the house, the washbasin closes, and the kitchen sink remains. To separate the stove from the mirror, we choose a three-burner panel. This made it possible to fit the hood in the countertop so as not to obscure the mirror and not to obstruct access the valves.
The bathroom is a standalone piece made from red veneer and whose height is less than the ceiling. With its location, it separates the living room from the kitchen. At the same time, this is the main accent of this room. It is made from glossy material. The client desired an open bathroom, so we turned it away from the windows towards the mirrored wall. Thus, the space of the shower room remains united with the living area, but the owner will not have to worry about his privacy.
For the rental apartment, in the interest of extreme space saving, we combined the bed with the workspace into a single structure, and placed the shower opposite the washbasin. The room also has a small kitchen with a removable burner and refrigerator, as well as a spacious wardrobe.
I wanted to leave all the rough concrete surfaces in their original condition. This is a ceiling and a load-bearing concrete wall from which we have not even removed the builders’ marks. The mirrored wall has multiplied the concrete, and this material became the background for further forms. The rest of the surfaces were covered with gray epoxy, and the furniture was covered with gray enamel. The reflective and mirrored surfaces create a contrast with the rough concrete background. The veneer of the red cube is covered with a glossy varnish, and and in combination with the mint-colored bed there is a beautiful color contrast.
